General Schedule
A normal school day is from 9:00am to 12:30pm, Monday through Friday. Working parents arrive at 8:30am to prepare activities for the day.
| 9am – 10am | We start with a full hour of outdoor play at Christopher Playground. |
| 10am | We wash hands and have a snack provided by a parent-teacher. |
| 10:30am – 11:45am | We have more than an hour of free play in the school’s three thematic areas and the school’s outdoor patio. Teachers regularly take children on nature walks through Glen Canyon and to the Community Garden to visit our gardening plot. |
| 11:45am – 12pm | We come together for circle time for stories, presentations, or music led by our teachers or parent-teachers. |
| 12pm | We wash hands and have lunch, which each child brings from home. |
| 12:30pm | Parents pick up children and working parents clean the school. |
Afternoon Program
Our afternoon program on Tuesdays and Thursdays lasts from 12:30pm to 3:30pm for up to 10 children on each day.
Children in the afternoon program spend extra time outdoors exploring Glen Canyon and the school garden. We then have circle time with stories and songs, nap/quiet time, a healthy snack, and finish up with an art or science project.
The smaller class size enables the teachers to hone in on the particular needs and interests of the children, fosters unique bonds among the children, and helps them better focus and cooperate as a group.
